Are the guys literally walking all over the women this year? Let’s discuss

Now I don’t want to say all the men at Eurovision this year are sexist, but I mean just once I’d like to see a guy wear an outfit so ridiculous he has to stand in one spot for the whole performance. Of course, not wearing that kind of outfit doesn’t make you a sexist but it’s like some of the guys this year are just deliberately rubbing their freedom of movement in the ladies faces. Take a look at this;

Not content in purely showing off how much he can move ON stage, Isaiah has gone one step further and recorded background visuals of him moving around OFF stage. Jerk.

Exhibit 2 – Moldova

In bringing back the running-man dance move, The Sunstroke project are just basically playing a big game of ‘Bet You Can’t Do This!’ with the ladies. Not cool, Moldova. Not. Cool.

Exhibit 3 – Sweden

“Look they’re on treadmills!” you say. “That means they’re in the same spot for the whole performance!” And whilst technically that is true, it’s also an extreme way of saying “Look I can move more than you even when they force me to stay in one spot HAHAHA.” It’s the worst kind of passive aggression really.

Aw look at his cute face! He can’t be sexist, he’d never even hurt a fly! WRONG. Nathan Trent has stepped up the game with a whole song about running. On air no less. Disgraceful.

Want to really show how easy it is to move on stage compared to the ladies? Why not hire one to sing with you and keep her so in one place you mark it on the floor? *Evil Laughter*

The Good Guys

Of course Eurovision is a fair and democratic process so it’s only right to show you the other side of the argument as well;

By employing a dancing Gorilla, Francesco Gabbiani is showing us how the increased freedom of the male performer is actually an indication of the animal-like and thus uncivilised nature of men in general. And I bet you thought it was just for entertainment value!

Exhibit 7 – France

What do you do when you want to move but can’t? Well you make the world around you move instead, duh. And as if in testament to the power of women everywhere, that is exactly what Alma has done.

What’s the most feminist way to attack the movement-mocking gentlemen of Eurovision 2017? Why, put a man on stage in ridiculous costume and tell him he can’t move of course! Plus bonus points for literally running up a wall in the meantime. You go, girl!

Feminist Rating 5/5

And on that note, your Lordship, we rest our case! What’s the verdict?
